About Our Founder

Six days before Christmas at the age of 29, Sheria heard the words that no wife or mother would ever expect to hear “you are pregnant, you have an aggressive form of cancer that has metastasized to your lymph nodes, and to increase your chances of survival you must terminate your pregnancy.”  

She was hit with a whirlwind of news that literally knocked her off her feet.  Her life at that moment was forever changed.  In celebration of her miraculous recovery, her daughter who is now a healthy, strong and vibrant teenager, Cast Your Pearls Philanthropic Benefit was born honoring cancer survivors and extraordinary caregivers (the unsung heroes), who sacrifice their time and place their lives on hold to usher a loved one back to health.
